SEND & additional needs

We want children and young people with SEND or additional needs to be able to enjoy HAF safely and confidently.

Choosing an activity

Each activity on Eequ should explain the support and accessibility available. Check the listing before you book and contact the provider if you want to talk about your child's needs. Providers may be able to support:

  • reasonable adjustments

  • additional equipment

  • changes to activities or routines

  • extra staffing or smaller groups, where agreed

  • specialist support where this is part of their offer.

Before the activity

Please make sure your child's Eequ profile includes useful and up-to-date information about their needs, allergies, dietary requirements and any support that helps them take part safely. The provider may contact you before the session to make sure the activity is suitable and the right support is in place.

Does SEND make my child eligible for HAF?

SEND or an EHCP does not automatically make a child eligible for a funded HAF place. If your child meets the Targeted Free School Meals rules, they can access HAF in the usual way. If they do not, they may be considered for one of Dudley's limited discretionary places where the local criteria are met. Who can take part?
