HAF for SEND Families

HAF for benefits-related Free School Meal (FSM) Eligible SEND Families:

To be eligible, your child must meet all three of the criteria below:

  1. Lives in, or goes to school in, Dudley Borough

  2. Is aged 5–16 (in primary or secondary school)

  3. Receives benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM)

✅ If you can answer “yes” to all three, your child is eligible for HAF.

How HAF supports SEND families:

  • All providers clearly list the support they can offer on their activity listings.

  • Families and providers are encouraged to discuss suitability ahead of time.

  • For low level support and adjustments, all providers are expected to support families.

  • For children who receive extra support at school, providers can apply for additional funding to offer more support – often extra staff, specific training to help a child, 1:1 support or offering smaller groups.

  • For higher level of support and need, there are some specialist HAF Providers

HAF For SEND families who are NOT Free School Meal eligible

The main purpose of this programme is to support children and young people from low-income families, with a focus on those who get benefits related free school meals.

Children with SEND who are not eligible for benefits related Free School Meals may be able to access HAF through the ‘15% Discretionary’ funding if they meet one or more of the additional criteria, see section “15% Discretionary Places” on page HAF Eligibility
